Stone, Granite and Marble (and slate) are geologically formed materials which are naturally flawed. Veining, shell marking and iron deposits cause imperfections and no guarantee can be given, particularly for uniformity in appearance and unavoidable variation from other samples of the same material. Considerable variation can even occur in material excavated from the same layer in the same quarry. Not all materials are quarried all year round and sometimes some materials can prove difficult to obtain.
